exploring…

I’ve been pretty down recently.  Some news I got recently weren’t exactly what I expected, thereby ruining my 6 month plan – dag nabbit!  Meh.  Now I’m actually trying to reshape my thinking into taking these bad news and using them to my advantage… bettering myself, taking more time to do what I know is more important but haven’t been doing, and just basically turning this seemingly negative thing and turning it positive.  All that in mind, I decided to take a “recovery” day with a couple of friends and just forget the world with all its madness and go show El Paso to a newfound friend.  We took him all over the place, from the Fox Plaza flea market to Memorial Park to some awesome parts of downtown.  One of the “in between” places we stopped at spoke to me though.  An old motel in west El Paso that has been turned into a sort of  “mini mall” of consignment stores is what I fell in love with. I have a few shots.  Check em out.

opinion on coffee…

leave a comment »

I have a friend who told me recently, “We should have a drink together sometime…”  He’s legally allowed to drink alcoholic beverages now.  I simply smiled and nodded in agreement.  He’s a nice guy.  However all this time, from the moment those words left his mouth up to the moment I nodded, I couldn’t help but think how weird it would be to have a drink with him.  Reason being… I’m more Martinis and Long Islands at The Dome while he’s more Guinness at an Irish Pub in Ireland, I’m sure.  Despite the differences that put us each in our own respective category as previously mentioned, we’ve had some interesting conversations over coffee, watched movies over coffee, and I even wanna say that we may have even had coffee after going running.  That may be wrong though… I’m not sure.  Anyway, my point is that had we never had coffee together, I probably would’ve refused his offer for a drink sometime.  Coffee bonds people… well in my opinion, that is.  So here’s to my favorite beverage.

I hadn’t updated this lovely piece of cyberspace real estate in quite a while.  I though, why not update it with a photo shoot.  A photo shoot of none other than yours truly…

lost in geography…

I’m a little lost… not really. I am currently in a little area in Colorado.  I believe I am somewhere between Basalt and Snowmass.  If you, dear reader, don’t know where exactly that is, feel free to Google it.  If you’re too lazy to do so, that’s ok too… fyi, I am in the Aspen, Colorado area.  I’ve been enjoying my stay up here.  I came to visit a friend who talked me into skiing for the first time ever and enjoyed myself a great deal.  I had the most delicious, yet extremely over-priced Long Island Iced Tea too.  Most importantly though, I’ve been sleeping well.  I think it has to do with being away from my home town.  Every time I go someplace else, I find that I sleep incredibly well.  All in all I’ve felt quite dandy.  One of the guys I’m staying with says it must be the altitude that’s contributing to my being well-rested and my recent contentment.  I don’t know.  Maybe it was my little shopping spree this evening.  I bought a few sale items at a store that I absolutely love; that made me quite happy.  Or who knows… maybe it is the altitude.  I’m a little lost…

Hahaha…

Well I’ll be a little lost a little longer.  Tomorrow I’m off to Denver, Colorado to work.

Anyway, the main reason for this entry… my friend and I went to Village Inn today and the lady who served us was so sweet.  She gave my friend a very pretty rose.  Of course I saw the opportunity to get a few shots.  Here they are…

winter…

with 2 comments

When it snow in El Paso everything shuts down.  However, despite the icy roads and cold wind, if one drives carefully and has warm clothes, one can get some wonderful photographs.  The second shot just looks like it’s a really windy evening with sand or dirt on the road but that’s snow.  Ironically enough though, by today the snow has melted and the wind has been fierce and now that shot can be used to depict the windy dirty weather experienced here in El Paso too.

I also love how the sky looks on those types of winter nights… (yes it’s a night shot)

I took pictures of two little fixtures I’d never noticed before in my house. I was pleasantly surprised to find them.

more from that weekend…

with 2 comments

I expect that at some point I will stop finding old shots from that weekend I went to Marfa, TX with some friends.  It was a great, art filled and inspiring weekend at the Chinati Foundation.  I continue to be inspired even up til now… almost three months later.  Here’s more…
